By Road

Travel by road

The NEC is very deliberately located at the hub of the UK’s motorway system, being directly accessible from both the M6 and M42, which in turn can in turn be easily accessed from the M1, M5, M40 or M69. Leave the M6 at junction 4, or leave the M42 at junction 6 and follow the signs.

Bear in mind that the NEC (venue) will charge each car £8.00 to park.

By Train

Travel by train

Birmingham International Station is IN the NEC complex and is literally only a few minutes undercover walk to/from the show. If your line doesn’t stop directly at Birmingham International Station then simply change at Birmingham New Street Station onto one of the regular services going through Birmingham International.

By Air

Travel by Air

Birmingham International Airport is right next door and there is a monorail link that means it takes only about 10-15 minutes from walking through arrivals in the Airport, to walking into the show. Again, transfer from Airport to show is completely undercover. Flybe, Ryanair and several other budget operators fly in and out of Birmingham International Airport (BHX) along with many other International Airlines.

To our Irish and Scottish visitors, we’d advise you to get your plane ticket now – it will probably be cheaper than driving! Also, for visitors travelling from further away (we have people visiting The Classic Motor Show from all over the world) there are over 20 international airlines serving BHX and of course we are no more than a couple of hours drive from just about any other UK airport (remember to drive on the left!)

FAQFREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Q: What are the dates?
  • A: November 12/13/14 2010

  • Q: What are the opening times?
  • A: The Show is open
  • Friday 12th November 10.00am – 7.00pm
    Saturday 13th November 9.30am – 7.00pm
    Sunday 14th November 9.30am – 5.30pm

  • Q: How much are the tickets?
  • A: For ticket prices »Click Here«

  • Q: I prefer to buy my advance tickets over the phone, not over the web, what number should I use?
  • A: 0871 230 1088

  • Q: Can I buy tickets on the door?
  • A: Yes you certainly can, however, to save you time and money buying in advance is altogether more convenient and offers better prices.

  • Q: Will my Classic Motor Show ticket get me into the Top Gear Motoring Theatre?
  • A: Your Classic Motor Show ticket allows you entry into The Classic Motor Show and, as a bonus, it also allows free entry into the neighbouring MPH Show in Hall 5 (the Prestige and Performance Motor Show), but it does not include a seat in the Top Gear Live Theatre. If you wish to experience the Top Gear Live Theatre then it is strongly advised that you book a Top Gear Live ticket in advance, as availability on the door is highly unlikely due to demand. Click here to go to the MPH/Top Gear Live website »www.mphshow.co.uk«

  • Q: Is access to The MPH Show available at all times?
  • A:
  • No, we can’t guarantee it. At peak times the MPH show may close their doors in order to ensure the comfort of visitors already in the hall. The MPH Hall is, proportionally, far smaller than the Classic Motor Show and consequently they have to carefully manage the ‘weight’ of visitor traffic in there to make sure it doesn’t get uncomfortably busy. Bear in mind that if, this does happen, then there is a good reason – it’s for the comfort and safety of all. Without doubt, access to MPH will re-open later on. Last year MPH access was restricted between the hours of approximately noon and 3pm during Sat/Sun, so we advise you to bear this in mind and plan your day accordingly. At no time should there be any access issues with The Classic Motor Show itself.

  • Q: How much is car parking?
  • A: The car parking charge is set and collected by the venue (not by the show, nor do we see a penny of the car parking revenue) at £8.00 per car. For all venue related information please visit »www.necgroup.co.uk«

TIPS!
Some visitors increasingly park at, or close to, a local train station (one that runs through Birmingham International of course) and do the last stint by train.
Some local/regional stations will have free parks, some will be a bit cheaper than the NEC, some will have on-road parking close by. The added benefit of approaching like this should mean less chance of getting caught in any traffic congestion around site or on the surrounding M42/M6 at peak times (i.e when everyone's arriving/leaving). You'll have to check with the regional stations/routes. Here's a very local rail map to get you started.
Or - some park at Birmingham International Station (1300 spaces with covered walk through to NEC Halls - in fact this is closer than some of the NEC car parks!) for £6.00 max, saving a couple of pounds, but you'll need to get there early.
Or - car share - there's bound to be someone else close to where you are coming to the show. Check with car clubs, local forums, message boards etc.

  • Q: Where can I eat?
  • A: There are food outlets all around the halls offering everything from sandwiches to full 3 course meals. Of course prices vary accordingly.

  • Q: What about if I've bought a packed lunch?
  • A: A common visitor complaint is that there's nowhere to sit and eat packed lunches. What people forget is that, just outside all the halls on the piazza area, there is lots of seating to use. There's no problem leaving the halls (you'll get your hand stamped on exit allowing you back in) for a while to eat your lunch!

  • Q: Are there any special food offers?
  • A: We’re hoping the NEC will give us some vouchers to pass onto you – check back here before the show and we’ll make them available to download.

  • Q: What else is on at the same time and where can I stay?
  • A: For NEC Group venues see »www.necgroup.co.uk«
For general Birmingham info see »www.beinbirmingham.com«

  • Q: What are the public transport alternatives?
  • A:
    Train:
There is a train station IN the NEC complex. This is Birmingham International Station. If there is no direct service into Birmingham International from where you are, then simply go to Birmingham New Street Station and then onwards to Birmingham International on one of the many regular services through there. Check train times etc here:

  • Coach/Bus:
Get a National Express Coach into Birmingham »www.nationalexpress.com«
Then transfer via local bus service to the NEC. Check bus services/times etc here »www.travelwm.co.uk«

  • By Air:
  • The NEC is right next to Birmingham International Airport and there is a monorail link from the Airport directly into The NEC. Typically from walking through "Arrivals" to entering the show halls will take only about 10 mins, and all undercover. If you book a flight early, as many of our Irish, Scottish and mainland European visitors do, then you should benefit from a great deal from one of the budget airlines see: »www.bhx.com«
